July grad in Chicago area

Nurses Job Hunt

Hi there,

I'm currently enrolled in nursing school in Missouri in an accelerated program and will receive my BSN in at the end of July. I'm from Illinois and would like to live back home in the Chicago area for some time. I was wondering if anyone else is who is in the boat of being a July graduate knows if any hospitals in the Chicago areas (1) will accept applications/ hire before the NCLEX has been taken and passed with a contingency. Ex: Being hired but given a certain date to have your license by in order for you to start and keep your position. (2) if there are hospitals with contingencies of passing the NCLEX prior to the new grad cohort start dates, what months are new grads able to start? A month or 2 of waiting before working is feasible, however, staying at home for 6 months, being on my parents dime or working in an unskilled part-time job until being able to get my first job as an RN does not sound like a very fun time, especially after working my butt off in a top notch program for my BSN. If you know of any hospitals in the Chicago land area that would fit this criteria please please please share the knowledge. Someone I know who started as a new grad RN at Central DuPage Hospital last year told me that I could apply now, however, July grads will start in a December cohort. I'm just hoping there are other places where I could start a bit earlier... I appreciate input towards the topic, but would prefer if I could get responses from people who have been new grads in the Chicago area within the past 3 years or so (policies and things change often in hospitals ya feel?). Thank you!
