Nursing in Japan?

Published

Hello all,

I was just wondering if anyone has any experience working as a nurse in Japan in a military hospital.

If so, could you talk about your experience and how you were able to get the position?

I have worked in Japan in an unrelated field but would like to return once I have finished nursing school. Any information/comments are appreciated. Thanks

I have never worked in Japan, but am a military spouse and know how to apply for those types of jobs. The hospitals in Japan are run by the Navy down on Okinawa and up in Yokosuka, to apply for those jobs you'd have to go online through the Department of the Navy website for jobs and apply there. But, those jobs are slim for civilians. They use a lot of Navy Nurses there, and spouses get preference for hiring overseas with the government agencies.

Good Luck!

I would LOVE to be able to work in Japan....at least for a day.

Yokota Air Base is the big base in Japan and they have a hospital there. However, as others have said, they hire few civilian nurses and spouses have preference.
