I'm sorry, I must have been thinking of some other online university. Not all are accredited. So did you make the plunge?

Yes, I did. Matter of fact, that is where I learned to back up my comments with proof. ;) I'm in going into the second part of the first semester and have learned a lot in my foundation courses so far. I cannot wait until I start into the informatics courses!

Yes, one of my previous professors use to say: "Its okay to disagree just do it with references!" ;)

I am starting a course this week that is sort of an introductory course in the use of informatics and technology in healthcare. So, I may take you up on your offer in the future. :D

I dont feel comfortable "recommending" one program over another.

I will write an article on the topic of comparing NI Graduate degree programs if you would please add that suggestion at the top of the Forum under the current thread "Your Input is Needed" I'd truly appreciate that!

Other than that anyone can utililize the search feature on this forum entering such terms as: "Nursing Informatics graduate programs", "MSN degree" "HI and MI degrees". This topic has been covered on this Forum extensively .......as we have had and still do have current enrolled students and gradutates of NI, MI, HI undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Hello, Ive been eyeing for a long time to practice informatics. The thing is, I'm scared to make a risk. right now, I'm working as a claims specialist under a US health insurance here in the Philippines.

I also saw that one of the Top Schools here in Phil offered Master in Informatics the problem was I can't afford it. And another organization which was National Telehealth Service Program was recruiting a Research Assistant, eHealth nurse

  • Must be a registered nurse with an IT background
  • Must have good communication and project management skills
  • Have research experience during his or her graduate and undergraduate years
  • Must be abreast with the trends in national and global health care system
  • Being an honor student is a distinct advantage

The eHealth nurse will be involved with eRecords, eLearning, and eMedicine projects of the center and will be part of the National Telehealth Service Program

Can this be use as a stepping stone as a Nurse Informaticist?

I'm seriously considering this program, and would like your input.

The courses are very interesting. I am in my last semester of the nursing ourses and start the specialization courses in the fall. You take two 8 week courses a semester so it is not overwhelming with the amount of research and paper writing. I spend about 10-12 hours a week between the discussions and the asignments.

Hi Angela I have been reading almost all the forums that you post. Your knowledge is excellent. I recently enrolled in Masters in nursing with emphasis in nursing informatics in Grand Canyon University. What is the name of the exam that a nursing informatics nurse have to take. I think I took the right decision. Thank you for all your support.

ANCC offers the Nursing Informatics exam. If you go to their web site, you can find info about the test under "Informatics Nursing" under "Certification."

Do you know if GCU will let students sit for ANCC's Nursing Informatics exam after they complete the MSN program?
