You are American? Perhaps the Embassy could help.

Sorry I just saw you are Irish. Perhaps the UK Embassy?

Or the Irish embassy if you are from Eire! All the Belgians I have met have been embarrasingly multilingual, with at least English, German, and Spanish! Could you ask at the nearest hospital/clinic?

I know Brussel and Belgium pretty well, since I was born in the Netherlands.

It just amazes me, you can't find anybody around talking English.

People I know in Brussel all talk English very well and like to practise also.

Don't you think it is good to meet people who were born and raised in Brussel, since you are living there too?

I know from moving to another country, that it is of course easier to have contact with people from your own country, because of your history, language etc.

But beware.... you'll have a very hard time intergrating, you'll be the foreigner for ever.

just my experience: learn the language and go out with the Belgians (they're funny people and easy to be with anyway)

Take care, Renee
