Anyone a member of the sigma theta tau? I am a nursing student with a good GPA and the school sent me an invitation in sigma theta tau.
Do you think that helps to get my first job? Or is a waste of money?

I personally feel like it's nice resume fodder and - depending on how active you want to be - there may be networking opportunities there. But I don't feel like anyone offered me positions based solely on the fact that it's on my resume. That is, I don't think your membership makes or breaks you. I have many friends who didn't join and haven't had any issues finding work.

I found no benefit whatsoever in having it.

got invitation and it went right into the trash. No interest. Maybe in a highly competetive field it would hold more value.

I am not sure if it helps you to get your first job (I was already a RN working and went back to school) but it does look great on a resume.
In addition, how much you get out of it depends on how much you involve yourself. There are discussion forums, initiatives and so and and forth though I feel that a lot of activism comes from graduate degree nurses who are in education or APRN ...
It is of course some money you will be paying for the membership.

Some local chapters are very active and are great resources for networking and jobhunting assistance (others, not so much).
