I am not a nurse but my sister was in a nursing facility earlier this year and I have been researching about the care she recieved there and their protocols. I have come across this site many times and i found that many of the topics are questions that I have. Please dont frown upon me being nosey in the nurses group, I truly respect each and everyone in the career. I want to understand because somehow this place is open and they have so many substaintiated DEFICIENCIES i want to know the right way she should have been cared for. by nurses who love what they do... anyway if anyone has a min please feel free to comment. my questions are all related to diabetic care specifically CBG's
in a nursing facility is there a difference between unresponsive and non responsive? they seem interchangable from reading her nursing notes.
if a patient is non/unresponsive is there a protocol for diabetics? i read somewhere protocol is to deligate to call 911. then provide care as ordered such as administer a gluco injection.
is there specific information that is supposed to be written in her notes daily? i have read this site and it seems like nursing notes should be pretty clear like, patient ate all of lunch. CBG was____ bla bla..
should showers always be written in the notes if they had one? for example i have ALL of her medical file from the facility and only 3x does it say she recieved a shower.
How is a diabetics blood sugar results noted? there is a vitals summary that has a list of BP's results and blood sugar results but not ALL from each time that it is checked. For example there is only one result for the entire day in June. when she was checked 3x (or should have been).
I love knowledge and appreciate everyones patience. feel free to message me im really in need to understand but its hard without knowing someone to ask.

Every facility's charting is going to be different. No one can comment so broadly. If you have concerns about your sister's care, ask to speak with the nurse manager or a patient advocate.

I second that. Charting will be different, and so will policies and procedures. In addition, this is a site for nurses to chat with each other. We are unable to give any sort of medical advice to patients or families. You should really contact the facility directly with your questions and/or concerns.
Best wishes.

As mentioned we are a nursing website supporting nurses and students. Also as mentioned each facility will have their own assessment and documentation, better for you to speak to someone at the facility.
As this does come under personal use I will close the thread because as per the Terms of Service of the site we cannot offer medical advice.
