Suggestions please. We just want something she'll treasure the rest of her life. Her Great Grandmother was an RN.
Thanks, Bo

Hi
You can actually buy little trinkets like a key chain for maybe 20 dollars but was makes that gift special is engraving it with a nice message or words of wisdom from her grandmother (since she was a nurse).
Or a pen she could carry with her into her job. That can also be engraved she can see it all the time when she is taking report or writing nursing notes.
Or you can ask her family for an old nursing tool her grandmother/or she used or something she loved and valued during her clinicals( like maybe a prayer or a picture) have it framed.
I hope this helps ( these are all pretty affordable) If you are going for something extreme you can but her a necklace or a bracelet with maybe a charm on it. (Something that when she looks at that charm reminds her of the times you shared in nursing school or reminds her of her great grandmother.
Good Luck in what ever you decide. :heartbeat
Eventually she will get a framed picture of her Grandmother in her nursing uniform, hat, and with Sargent's stripes but only after we meet our maker. Her actual nursing hat is framed internally as a part of the picture.
I like the idea of an engraved pen. I have a Cross pen & Pencil set that has a life-time guarantee. The Cross pen will write on anything and never skip like lots of them do.
Lawyers use blue ink. Is that a good idea for nurses?
Thanks,
Bo

Either blue or black ink is fine.
I received a lovely 14k gold heart with an RN intertwined. I loved it!

The LLadro nurse figurine was my favorite gift for graduation last semester. It's timeless, and brings me pride every time I see it. In California, we are only able to use black ink for documentation, no blue.

You don't have to spend a lot of money to give a truly great gift. I've found that the best gifts I've ever received are the ones that I use almost daily. A great gift idea are those retractable ID holders that nurses use. I have gotten a bunch of them (and plenty of pens) from drug reps, but I use one that was given to me as a gift and love it. There are sites that can personalize them, I've seen them around the forum.
Did a quick search and found www.thenursebadge.com. Still seems quite new, but seems promising.
