I had a dream this morning and it was quite weird from my normal dreams, anyways i'll just tell you about it. In my dream I meet a women, she is a white, quiite older woman, wearing all white scrubs, who is a LVN. She brings me to a hospital where she works, takes me in a waiting room by the NICU. We sit down and she starts tellling me to become a nurse and where I should go if I can't find a job. A few minutes in the power fails, even the backup generator fails, the whole hospital is dark. People start shouting and there is no other nurses around. She then gets up and sees a baby that needs feeding and his breathing is begining to fail. She runs in, I run after her, she starts trying to breastfeed the baby, she exhausted herself and was on one knee. Then I step in and start giving mouth to mouth to the child. After a few more minutes the power comes back on, things start to return back to normal. I then thank her for bringing me and tell her that I will be a nurse. I also tell her that she is the best nurse I have ever met. The dream ends, what does it all mean? When I thought about it, I wondered if it was god clarion call for me to be a nurse, since I have been debating about the issue? or was it nothing but a weird dream with a crazy nurse?

WOW! Maybe a fear of the unexpected, the dire, the emergencies and your wish to never have to feel alone during it? Maybe now you feel alone, and are subconsciously anxious about a sudden emergency...natural, terrorism, or medical!
With todays day and age..this is typical! Look at it...natural: all this talk of greenhouse and being green enough, or more so than the Jones's...Terrorism: wide spread probelms like tainted water or power grids out...all been in the news lately...and medical: nature of the job (and children seem to bring out the worse fears we have!). And heck..what is in the news other than death right now...the elections which is a time of uncertainty, frustration, big change, feeling you may not change things the way you want and being a victim of it (like emergencies), and feelings of powerlessness and hopeflessness to a point...(some folks are energized by it and confident..but not the majority of folks I know...very uncertain and very ad nauseum time).
Do what I do...stop watching the news..LOL! Okay no...joking aside, really look into these issues and your feelings about them. From what I hear of reading into dreams is to break it down into its absolute basics no matter how abstract...ie the reason why most people do not believe or trust dream analysis of any kind...
So I go with the addage...so what does this mean to ME! That usually covers it with some open and honest thought... And with dreams...a little happy thought...that other nurse may just be another representation of your own self you wish to listen to more...wierd huh?

Wow! Not sure that it was actually a call to nursing. But it does show that somewhere it has been on your mind. I bet you were exhausted yourself when you woke up!

What this dream demonstrates to me is that you will need the assistance of many to become a nurse, and to maintain your license. CNAs, housekeepers, phlebotomists, and LPNs will have information to contribute to learning the job. Also, the fact that the LPN breastfed the baby shows the nurturing that is needed for the job (for both, the patient as well as to you as the new nurse).
Each new situation will seem to be emergent no matter how minor with the lights suddenly going out (this may mean that for a moment, things that you learned may go out of the window because application will seem a bit different than reading and knowing answers on the exam), but, after receiving assistance, things go back to normal. Also, with the backup generator going out, it will probably seem for a while that what you expect to work or rely on may not...but trust that there will be something to lead you the right way.
Good luck!
