Nursing and Diabetics & Epileptics?

Published

Can someone who has Diabetes or epilepsy become a nurse? Or can a nurse who is recently diagnosed with either of those still work?

I'm diabetic. I work.

What about epileptics?

I don't personally know any epileptic nurses but off the top of my head I can't think of a reason that a person with epilepsy could not complete nursing school.

I am an insulin dependent Type 2 diabetic and I suffer from a seizure disorder. I am also a licensed professional nurse. When I first started nursing school, back in 1964, one of my classmates was an insulin dependent Type 1 diabetic. She had difficulty getting into college and was even turned down by Hunter. She graduated from our diploma program, returned for her BSN and MSN and worked a very full professional life.
