Ok to meet NM without interview?

Nurses Career Support

I submitted an application to Kaiser Permanente in hopes that a position will open up for me in a particular location. I have not received any response from HR but wondered if it was ok to show up at the facility I'm interested in working at, meet the NM and let her know my interest in working there. Need to know what the proper work ethic would be in this case.

Here's another idea to think about . . .

Could you call the receptionist or unit clerk for the NM, find out her name, work address etc and send her a cover letter, requesting an informational interview, along with your resume.

good luck,

I do NOT think it is okay to just "show up" as you put it. You could certainly write the nurse manager a letter aand introduce yourself. Thatw ould show a polite interest.

I strongly agree with the other people who responded. "Just showing up" is a bad idea. The NM is probably busy and would not appreciate the unexpected interruption. It's just not polite to show up without an appointment.

However, like the others, I see no reason not to write a letter that expresses your interest and inquires about opportunities. You might also seek an appointment with the NM to discuss those opportunities. That's as far as I would go.

Thanks for confirming my gut feeling.
