Hi guys,
can anyone help me out here. Im an intelkectual disability trained nurse and trained in ireland. Im looking to move to canada but the problem is this degree usnt recognised there ..is there any way around this..where else could i work.. im lost .. please help.

Canada like the US requires nurses to be generalist trained with theory & clinical in adult med/surg, obstetrics, pediatrics, geriatrics and mental health/psych. There's very few if any replacement coursework short of returning to school to complete a full generalist curriculum.
I think someone recently posted that intellectual/developmental disabilities nursing may be recognized in Australia but you would need to contact APHRA to confirm. As far as I know only the UK is specialty trained
Australia does employ id nurses but its just too far away.. so frustrating
