Nursing Board Limbo After Arrest

Nurses Criminal

Published

Hi all, I completed nursing school last December and passed my NCLEX in January. I then waited a few weeks and still noticed I didn't have a license, I reached out to my board and discovered I had an investigator due to me being arrested in 2022. I submitted all the required paperwork, police reports, essay etc. I still am waiting for word from my investigator. There are people who've taken their NCLEX after me with previous arrests who already have their license. I was arrested for assault and the charges were dismissed and I was sent home the following day. Does anyone know if it's normal to wait 7 months for a license? Presumably even more? Im being told I need to get a lawyer, that I need to drive to the board, file complaints. I just don't know, I feel so disheartened about it all and I wish I could just plead my case to somebody or have any information at all but I know absolutely nothing. When I reach out to my investigator it feels like they're annoyed with me and don't want to speak to me and don't provide me with an answer. Thank you for your response ahead of time.

7 months? Yikes! I know some state BON's are slow as molasses but that is pretty extreme. If you have means I would consult an attorney at this point.  Maybe they could help you get to a resolution on this a little quicker. Hopefully in your favor!

Contact TAANA.org.  It's a referral service for nurse attorneys.  You've lost months of a salary already.
