We get these requests a lot, so if there are any other students out there who might get this kind of assignment, listen up:
Part of your faculty's reason for giving you this assignment is to get you to go out there and speak to an RN face to face. A big email blast is not a substitute for shoe leather. AN is not Google.
See, in nursing, you have to learn to speak to a lot of people you would not otherwise encounter; you might find yourself out of your comfort zone. This is part of nursing, a huge part. An anonymous respondent online, well, you don't really know who we are, do you? We could be the truck driving guy living next door for all you know.
So if all you do about learning new things is Go to the keyboard and hit send, then you are limiting your chances of actual learning a valuable skill you will need all your working life.
That said: Where will you find a nurse? Think outside the (computer) box.
Local hospital: go to the staff development/inservice education office and ask one of them. They value education and will be happy to chat or to hook you up with someone who is.
Go to the public health department downtown. Ditto.
Go to the local school and ask to speak to a school nurse. Ditto.
Go to a local clinic / physician/NP office. Ditto.
Go to the local jail and ask to speak to the nurse there. Ditto.
Notice all of these say, Go to... and not Email... Remember that part about meeting new people face to face and comfort zone.
Go!
There is a true downside to trying to complete this assignment on an anonymous message board: you can't verify that anyone responding is really a nurse, you miss out on all the other stuff that you can learn by going off on tangents, and you miss the opportunity to network with working nurses who just might be able to give you an "in" when it comes time to search for that first nursing job.
Any "data" you get from this survey is absolutely worthless. As a college student you need to understand more about research. If you get a response from this survey..1. Do you KNOW the responder is a nurse (do you have evidence). 2. Are they CNA? LPN? RN? 3. What type of nursing do they do? (are they a research nurse? psych nurse? Home health care?) Do they work 12 hour shifts? Do they work days? nights? How long have they been in nursing? Have they ever had their nursing license suspended? Have they been fired?
One of your questions asks about family life. So what if all responders are single with no children? What if they work part time? What if they work per diem? What if they are travel nurses?
You absolutely cannot turn in any results from your questions because you are presenting that with certain assumptions you simply cannot make.
You need to take a research class and learn more.

Yes...follow the advice already provided :)
You will gain much more from this assignment by making the personal contacts (call a hospital, call a medical practice, outpatient clinic, nursing home, anywhere that employs nurses) and asking to speak to a nurse who would be willing to answer a few questions for a student.
You'd be surprised what the offer of a cup of coffee and a snack after work (or before) can do for your networking!
