Who else is taking it ? I hear it's a beast of a class. Can anyone give some solid direction? I decided to take it with no other class because the consensus on here is that it's the hardest one offered.

Hello,

I will be in this class as well. So did I miss something in regards to the need for a otoscope? I have borrowed the books but this is the first I have heard about the other items...

You will need to beg/borrow/steal (ok, don't steal) a tuning fork, reflex hammer and otoscope for the physical assessments. All of these can be obtained on the cheap from Amazon.

Well I guess I will be getting on Amazon now... Thank you.

I was worried about redundancy when I was doing the assignment. Thanks for mentioning that, now I don't feel like it is all wrong.

What kind of tuning fork did you buy meriwhen? There are so many options...

The video lectures aren't working! I thought yesterday that it was because the class had not started, but now they have an announcement that they are working on fixing the problem. I wanted to watch the lecture this morning and work on the assignment this afternoon.

I am working on the objective assessment for week 1. I am not sure what exactly we have to say. It says to be sure to include your assessment techniques. Can we state that we observed something or inspected a part of the body without explaining in full detail what we did. For example with a pulse check, can we say pulse 60 bpm on right radial artery, or do we need to say that we placed two fingers on patient's right radial pulse on the lateral aspect of the client's wrist. I am looking at the example and it is not very detailed. It states that they inspected, observed, or palpated.

I said something like "palpated patient's right radial pulse on the lateral aspect of the client's wrist" any where I thought I could explain how I assessed the patient I did. Like for weight I said I weighed the patient on a digital scale, for temp I said I obtained it orally using a digital thermometer.

They worked for me. What browser are you using? I used chrome.

Should we include we encouraged the patient to void prior to weighing?

I took the first quiz. I wouldn't call it easy or hard. I needed to read each question carefully. Out of the 20 questions, I easily knew about 5 of them, and had to think about or consider my options on the other 15. I believe there are multiple versions of the test because I got version 2. Good luck!

I wish I had my grade for my assignments. I am working on next weeks assignments, and I would like to know what I may have done wrong on the last one. I am just going to do the assignment like I did last week, but not submit it until I have feed back. I am going to study for the quiz too. I would like to get the quiz out of the way first thing on Monday.

I love that I can work ahead in this class. I hated research because I couldn't work on my own time. I couldn't start my assignment until that weeks leader split up the work, which didn't happen until Monday! The assignments were never completed until a few hours before it was due, because we were always waiting on someone to finish their part of the assignment.

Week 2 Lymph Nodes! OK so I can't feel my patients lymph nodes which the book says is normal. However, the book also says that normal finding are recorded "no enlargement or tenderness present." So if I can't feel them I don't write "unable to palpate" I write something like "non-tender and no swelling noted to palpation"?
