Nurses and Tattoos

Never mind!! LOL

I asked this question 3 years ago!!!

OMG, what a dork! :lol2:

I do not have tattoos but have worked with people with them. They were all asked to keep them covered as much as possible, and no facial tattoos. It wasn't the hospital that objected to them, per say, but the patients. A lot of older people, especially women, have a problem with large or plentiful tattoos.

I work with an EKG technician who has to wear this spandex thingy on his arm to cover up a large tattoo similar to the one you have. I guess he prefers doing that to just wearing a long sleeved T shirt underneath his scrub top.

I personally have seen plenty of nurses wear long sleeve T shirts and sweats under their tops, especially in cold weather months. I think it looks okay and I like to do it myself at times, being a little self conscious about my arms. =)

Sometimes it really depends on the environment you work in. I used to work in a state psychiatric facility with a rather loose dress code. Lots of tattoos and piercings showing in employees; one MHT had both.

Personally, I don't care if you're tatooed up to the eyeballs and have enough piercings to set of the nearest metal detector. As long as you're a good nurse and I'm safe, none of the rest matters.
