Hey everyone, brand new RN here with a brand new RNY pouch as of last week. My question to you is how do you get your water/protein in while working? I work in a busy ICU and see this may become problematic. I guess I can always have someone hook me up with NS during slow/break periods.(like whatever those are)
I am in the process of getting approval for RNY also. I'm actually medically approved just need my psych eval. I bought some shakes from bariatricchoice.com and they are called Protidiet, they come in individual bottles that you can add water to. I take four with me to work. They have 15 grams of protein each.
I'd also like to add that the shakes the I've been ordereing have maybe 1-2 grams of sugar. I don't know how much it takes before you feel nauseated and dump but I hope its not that much.
Have seen people dump on yoghurt, I haven't really had what I would call a proper dump but on a few occasions I get really tired and have to lay down, never had the shakes. If I do have too much fat I do get bad stomach even now 3 years post RNY. What I have noticed more and more is low sugar where I have to take something to boost me up
hypoglycemic? Yikes, well, I suppose that would happen considering that you aren't absorbing it after the surgery. How about vitamins? Do you just take a multivitamin or do you take other supplements?
I take ferritin and folate tablets plus calcium supplements every day I also from last December have to have Vit B12 injections every 3 months. I also try to include as much protein as I can in my food and always eat that first, cars are left to last
I know this post is a bit old however I had lapband surgery and I have a great drink that has ZERO CARBS (no dumping) and low calories. It is Nature's Best Isopure Zero Carb drink. It is 20 oz with 40g. protein (about 10 calories) and it comes in many flavors...best of all, it is not thick and pasty. It is clear and tastes like Crystal Light.
