have seen some nurses who want you to reduce cholesterols and keep you off cholesterol-lowering medications. while on the other hand he/she eats high cholesterol food and does not exercise. why would a registered nurse teach a patient about lifestyle change i.e. eating heart-healthy foods and weekly exercising?

Because nurses are people too, and have faults just like everyone else in the world. However, teaching people those things is their job.

You joined today and your first 2 questions are pretty stilted.
This looks like homework.
Tell us, why do YOU think a nurse would councel someone toward a behavior/lifestyle the nurse doesn't practice in their personal life?

I'm eating my big bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream right now...
Why don't you type "nurses who smoke" into the search bar, then replace the word "smoke" with the words "eat junk food." In fact, you don't even need to do that. Just search for "nurse's eating habits." You are sure to get more than enough opinions on the matter.
BTW: I speed-walked about 6 miles at work the other day, and it wasn't even that busy

There are days when I am just happy that I got to eat lunch - never mind if its healthy or not!
Truth be told - the grilled cheese and bacon sandwhich (yum!) is going to stay with me a lot longer than the more healthy salad.
So if I am faced with a choice of a) something that will keep me fullfilled for the next several hours until I have a chance to eat again or b) a very healthy choice that will leave me feeling light headed and hungry in 2 hours, I am going with choice a and the calories be damned!
As long as my cholesteral counts countinue to be within normal range, I am fine.
And yes, I am overweight - I have the metabolism of a snail. I had H1N1 once - didn't eat for close to a week and still didnt' lose weight! My MD has actually said that she would rather have an over- weight active person (me) that an ideal weight couch potatoe!
And finally, - after working a 12 hour day lifting/running/bending/stretching - the last thing on my mind is going to a gym!
