Nurses should definately get hazard pay!! :p

Steph -- me too! me too! Looooove Jabberwocky! One of the few poems I completely memorized. (Jabberwocky is an invention of Lewis Carroll, for those who might be interested--made up of very normal sounding nonsense words, such "momeraths outgrobe")

As for 80% of people fearing spiders--I think I could use that if I ever taught a speech class--since public speaking is supposed to be the #1 fear of people. Bring a fuzzy trarantula model into class with me...

I don't have a fear of spiders: my Dad used to let tarantulas walk up and down his arm!!!

I love the poem Jabberwokey!!

I just cannot believe it. I bet the ER's have a lot of funny stories like that one.

thank you megkirpas! That website made me feel a lot better!!

OMG!!! I cannot imagine how those ants must have made him feel...crawling and biting his airway and esophagus....eek. :uhoh21:

This is my first time replying to threads and am enjoying this topic tremendously! I am also arachnaphobic, but I am curious? - Were the ants "fire ants?" - just a thought....hmmmm...

I heard on a radio program that every person swallows up to 20 spiders a year in his/her sleep. They apparently crawl in and we chew them up and swallow them. I almost fainted when I heard this!!! :uhoh21:

what!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am trying to think of ways to avoid this, like a mouth net or something coz this would kill me intantly!!! I once woke up and found a big roach near my head!!!!! that was the first attempt at my life!!!!!!!

Would have loved to actually read the original article. The link no longer brings you to the the page the article is on. Does anyone remember the article name? I've searched using key words but can't find it.

Specializes in ED, ICU, NICU, CTICU< any areas.

We have lots of Spiders here Red Backs are great, even when you have your bra on the floor put it on the next morning and you get bitten by a Red Back Spider!! The pain is not good, but however they do not kill, lucky us.
