Nurse Residency Programs

Published

Hi! I will be graduating in May 2010 from UF with a BSN; I have been trying to research different nurse residency programs and opportunities but am having a hard time finding them. I've found a few, but i'm sure there are more out there. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? When should I start applying to programs/hospitals? I'm interested in moving to Boston or Atlanta if I could find a residency program that I would be able to get into...

Any information would be appreciated!! thanks!!

There's a program called Versant, which is an 18 week residency program. I have a friend going through it now, and she thinks it's fabulous. If you go to www.versant.org you can get a list of all the participating hospitals across the country. Hope this helps! I graduated in May and passed the NCLEX in June; no job yet

do you need a BS or AS to attend a residency/ internship program?

It depends. Some do require a BSN and some won't.

I've been applying at all the hospitals on their list that currently show openings for the residency programs. Here's a few:

Baptist Children's Hospital

CHOC

Cypress Fairbanks Med Ctr

Desert Regional Med Ctr

Hays Medical Center

and many more?

How is your search going?

it's going to say the least.. i have applied to uc davis, northbay, ucsf, damereon, washington hospital, kaiser (which is kinda a waste of time right now because of the new grad freeze), hospitals in florida, and some in AZ... the closest bite i have had was in miami but it took too long to get my license endorsed so they hired someone else. didnt realize how tough this would be
