Nurse Practitioners in another country

I'm not an NP yet but if you don't get any responses you might want to check with the US Embassies. Some of them have NPs and one of their docs told me they are always looking for NPs - good to keep in mind if you want to work in another country. Bangladesh has no NPs; nursing here is not well respected. I know Thailand, Australia, I think Singapore has NPs. Those are the ones nearest to me. Good luck!

hi, can you tell me what are the functions of NP? do NPs still under the supervision of doctors? do they really need to consult doctors in everything they do? if yes...whats the difference between NP and an RN?

Well I can tell you my experience of my friend who works in a doctors surgery in the community as a NP and she is totally autonomous in her decisions and prescribing. She will confer with the doctors if she is looking for a second opinion but otherwise is responsible for herself and her actions.

That's disgraceful but not entirely surprising. In secondary care i have the benefit of being able to say if you won't accept the referral from me shall I get my consultant to call you to explain why you think I'm not an appropriate professional to refer.

My worry is that we are asking nurses to take on these advancing roles and massive responsiblity but then don't follow up with to tools and respect that allows us to do the job.
