I have seen many threads on RN salary and cost of living per state/region but have yet to find one on APRN/FNP /NP. While salary.com does provide vague ranges of salaries per region, it would be quite helpful to start a Nurse Practitioner survey of salaries here. This would give a true picture of actual salaries and cost of living. This will benefit many in making informed decisions when it comes to negotiating salaries. I appreciate any information you can share. Thanks
Please post information on the following
· State you work and live in?
· What area of APRN you work in and years of experience
· Whether union or non union?
· Hourly wage or annual wage, indicate base salary, bonuses, etc.
· Ball park rent or mortgage/ in your area/region
· Is the cost of living high or low compared to wage
Let me begin:
Work in NY as FNP, 0-1 year experience as FNP, RN experience 10 +years
Union hospital
Annual base salary $114K + RN exp differential $1.5k per yr of experience
Rent average for 2 bed room $1900-$2500, Home prices $400K up. I think this salary narrowly balances the cost of living.

Hi ZenNurse,
I cannot find your post but noticed one about moving to ATL and a job outlook in approximately 2018. I was wondering how you are faring since then and if you have any tips for me? I am in Athens (for the last three months) and am about to graduate in May. The problem is I have NO contacts here. The area seems saturated and this worries me a bit as I will not have my "foot in the door" with anyone. If you can, please email me at [email protected]
Thank you so much.
