I doubt that CNO will answer which US NP programs are equivalent to Canadian NP programs, most likely they will say IEN education is assessed by NNAS. If your goal is to work as a NP in Ontario, ask NPAO how you can acheive this goal. I think they will recommend you work as a RN in Ontario for at least two years, then complete a MSN program, then complete a NP program from an Ontario university. I do not know if this is feasible for you, but it is worth asking their opinion.
Check with the CNO first, but most of the American NP programs probably won't be accepted. Even if CNO did accept the program, you will find challenges getting employment when the NP's you're competing with have either 1) graduated from a Canadian program 2) have many years of experience as an RN.
Most NP'S have 5-10 years of experience as an RN, not including their NP program.
I am a ontario canada rn also. Looking at walden np program. I am also wondering if i graduated the np program of walden. Will cno accept it as at par with np program in canada. Pls email me at [email protected]

Hi All,
Does anyone know if Cno accepts Nurse practitioner programs completed in USA from a "for profit school". I would like to apply to walden university or south university for their fnp program. Just wanted to know if CNO will except this as educational requirements to practice as a NP in Ontario.
