Nurse oncology questions?

I'm a sophomore and I've decided last year that I wanted to be an oncology nurse. I know this may be a little early but I want to be prepared and ahead. I like helping people and cancer has always interested me. What are some good colleges in Texas for oncology? What kinds of things should I do now through senior year? What do colleges look for in a student?How many years do I take in college for this? Do these nurses make good money? I want to know your opinions and tips, thank you!

Ps: this is the first time I've done anything like this, I was looking around on google and saw that a girl like me asked a question about this field so I figured I'd give it a try!

You don't specialize in school. You go to nursing school, graduate, and pass the NCLEX(the licensing exam). Then you try to find a job...hopefully in the area you want to focus. Then you get experience learn and take certification exams.

But there is no nursing school that specializes in oncology

Some BSN programs let you choose a speciality or two you'd prefer to be in for clinicals. If that's not an option, perhaps shadow an oncology nurse.

Try to get a clinical rotation on an onc ward. If you can't do that, see if you can shadow an onc nurse. That's awesome that you think you know what you want to do, but getting a good idea of what you're really getting into as a student can be difficult to obtain without actually seeing it yourself.
