I am a filipino nurse... I came across an agency recruiting nurses for Brooklyn, NY. It's Americare Inc. a nursing home care agency. Do you think that it's a good place to work in. They're offering me 26 dollars per hour. Do you think that salary would be enough for me to be able tolive in NY?
Please help me. I don't want to suffer the same fate that the 10 filipino nurses have..

Hi!
I live in queens, but i can tell that everything is not the way it was before .the rents are very expensive, 1200 for a one bedroom or even more. Food and gas is very expensive too, so if this is going to be the only income in your family is going to be hard. So try for 30 dollars/hour at least.
I hope this helps.

My mother worked for them as a Case Manager and she told me today that they start new home care nurses $32 an hour. $26 is fairly low. I hope they weren't trying to rip you off.

IS the $32/hr Americare pays LPN or RN?
Thanks
RN. My mother was a Case Manager for the Strickland Ave office and they only hire RNs. She left there Nov. 2007 and the pay was $32 an hour starting at the time she resigned. But ANY agency will try to beat you in the head. It's up to you to sell yourself and negotiate for more money. This wage is for someone without home care experience my mother said.
