Thanks Mary. The site looks helpful for all Aesthetic Nursing needs for Liability Insurance.

Now to find something that is for the regular liability Insurance to compete with NSO. My rates, as an Independent Contractor, tripled to $ 300.00 annually.

Hi Nightngale,

I am in need of liability protection for multiple licenses.. current RN and soon to have Esthetician license. I have checked into NSO as well.They seem to have several descriptions for RN.. How is your business covered? As RN or with a speciality? I found the same price for RN listing ($300) but not available for ethetician.. Any help is appreciated.

Also do you have info on setting up business as a LLC, any pearls of wisdom you can share.

as you probably found out, nso will not provide individual liability coverage for self-employed nurses (rn) who practice aesthetics. if you are employed with a physician, your coverage with nso is for rn only.

the link above - you might call them and get a free quote via email. they will have to have exact information about what you will offer your clients. the number:

and, check with your state to see exactly how this falls under your npa.

as for llc, you can check online, receive free quotes instantly, and after completing the required paperwork, become llc. it takes about 30 days to do so. you might want to check with your attorney regarding this (llc) to be certain this is what you need to do; the best move for you and your company.

What are the rates like?

I am an independent contractor working at a physicians office in San Fran and have found allnurses.com to be a great informative site for all my questions. I know numerous nurses on this site have expressed their frustration in tying to obtain med/spa ins. especially if they are an independent contractor. I finally found a company so I wanted to pass it along to my fellow nurses. The site is Professional Program Insurance Brokerage/MediSpa Services/MediSpa Insurance I faxed in my application and had coverage in 48 hours.(Lloyds of London is who their carrier is)

Thank you so very much for posting pertinent information like this. I am also in CA. As we know, getting an attorney

s advice for running a business is very expensive. I would like to approach an MD to work as a team, knowing that he must own 51% of the MedSpa. It seems that it is more cost effective to simply "contract myself out" to an MD, rather than ask him to be Medical Director of my business. In other words, what is the most efficient way to run your own botox/dermal filler/laser practice?

Is it to approach the MD with a Medical Director contract?

or

To approach the MD with the cross referral and the RN is an independent contractor?

Maybe my question is confusing. Basically, there is no blueprint available for this type of venture, so I am not sure how to phrase the question. Many have asked about how to approach am MD for Medical Director, but there has been no concrete reply.

Any information as to how i may set up a practice legally is helpful, or perhaps a referral to a good attorney in CA. I live in the Northern Area, Sacramento.

I am sorry that I cannot help you with your questions. In the three years since my posting, I have changed my career focus. At that time, it was difficult to find an MD in my area (read: small conservative community) willing to serve as Medical Director for a fledging enterprise. For a very brief time, I worked for a GP, who was far out on a limb (in my opinion), in his attempts to provide aesthetic services. I learned a BIG lesson. Check out your state's boards of Medicine and Nursing. Recent changes to my state's directives have focused on "Aesthetic medicine" practices of having unlicensed personnel doing "aesthetic procedures". Depending on what services you want to provide, (injectables, BOTOX, laser, etc) you may want to consider working for a practice already involved in this area. I currently work for a speciality practice that provides minimal aesthetic services, BOTOX and fillers, to their patients requesting these services. They do all the injecting. As to a good attorney in Sac, good luck! I can't help you there. Oh, yes and welcome to allnurse. com
