Hi. My name is Krissy and I'm a RN going to school at Lakeland for health care management. For my final paper I need to interview any manager in health care. The more the better. I'm not sure if it would be easy to answer this all back on here or an email would be preferred. I can post all the questions here and you could e-mail me back at [email protected]. An interview is a two way conversation.

Someone thoughtfully typing detailed answers for your homework is kind of one sided, don't you think?

Mr. Chicago I understand where you are coming from. I just thought I'd throw it out there and if no one replies that is ok. I'm not relying just on this site for responses. But I thought this would be one way to get a response. I for sure do a lot of things because I like helping people with no expectation of getting anything back. So yes, these responses would be from someone like that. And to be honest I'm looking to write about a manager I want to be. The manager I would want to be would take the time to help someone they don't know. Most interviews are one sided, unless I go buy someone coffee for their time.

Look in the student section, and you'll see lots of requests for one sided pseudo interviews. We have different ideas of what helping means. A good manager coaches and helps a person be their best, not by doing it for them.

I get your point, but how can someone answer my interview questions without doing it for me? I cannot answer my own interview questions. I did by the way come up with the questions. Does that give me any points? I'm not asking for someone to write my paper. I thought maybe I'd get anywhere from 0 to 1 responses. So, really I'm on the right path so far. And yes I understand the best approach would be to physically meet with someone. My boss is in meetings all day. I rarely see her face. I'd love for my manager to sit down with me. So maybe I'll get some diverse responses on here and maybe not. But either way it was another outlet to maybe get 1 response.

How do you know the person responding to you is actually a nurse, let alone a nurse manager, when you solicit responses from an anonymous Internet board? I know it's not the easy way, but it would be more beneficial, and probably more in keeping with the spirit of the assignment, if you actually went out and contacted some real life nurse managers. And you never know, it might make a great networking opportunity.

I would suggest just asking your boss to set up some time to meet with you to help you with your class assignment. I am sure she would make some time in her schedule for you. I am happy to help out my staff when they ask, especially because it is contributing to their education.

FYI, requests like this do not usually go over well on this site. Most of us are here to see how things are done in other facilities, to vent, to get advice, but not to help others with homework. That is why schools have websites and chat rooms...

I do wish you luck and like others suggest speaking with a manager in person, if you don't know one I'm sure you know someone who does. I have helped with requests like this in person, if you want to fly out to Oregon and buy me coffee I'll do your interview ;-)

You may even want to write a post to include what city you are in and how you like to sit down and interview a nurse manager.
