Nurse job in Ireland

Published

Hi All

Please i want to go and work as a nurse in Ireland.I have sent my credentials to ABA.Please,I want to know what the current situation is in Ireland-apart from the usual gloomy picture of job cuts, does one have to be an EU national to be able to do the adaptation for foreign nurses.I imagine this is important instead of waiting for ever only to be told no hospital will accept you because you are not an Irish or EU citizen.

I will be happy to hear from people who have current information, please

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

May want to contact hospitals and see what their current policy is on applicants and would they accept someone from outside the EU

Specializes in Surgical, quality,management.

take a look at http://www.careersinhealthcare.ie. It is the HSE website that all jobs in the public health system are posted on. Fantastic amount of openings (ha!)

Can't help you with the adaptation course stuff but I am in Australia waiting for a permanent post at home that I applied for 3 years ago for. I was let go because the hospital that I worked at had to cut staff so all fixed term contacts went.

The postings about Ireland are doom and gloom because that is what is going on. friends that I graduated with are working in nursing homes because they cannot get work in an acute setting. they don't want to be there but they have kids and mortgages to pay.
