Has anyone explored the nurse faculty loan program? What does this program entail? Thanks

I am checking into Ph.D. programs in Nursing Education. I am currently teaching in an FNP program online for a not for profit university. If you teach full-time at a university or online for a non-profit univeristy you can get $20,000 a year loan foregivess for up to 4 years. One big issue is that the State Universities want you to have a Ph.D or a Ph.D in progress.

The University I have been teaching form in their graduate program will go non-profit as of July 1st. Student Loan Forgiveness here I come!

Hey! What happens if you can't get a teaching job? I feel like they'd be hard to get! But I'd bl love to be an instructor, if able. Thank you.

And CONGRATS!!!

My understanding is that nursing faculty are in very high demand because there is a big shortage. I don' think you would have a hard time finding a position if you have the qualifications. Are you looking into getting your doctorate? I'm not sure if the nursing faculty loan program will pay for the DNP, but if you're interested in research and want to get your PhD, this can be a really helpful way to pay. Keep in mind that a lot of PhD programs offer full or partial funding, including a small stipend, so aim for that as a first option instead of relying on the nurse faculty loan program because you do have to pay some of that loan back (15% I believe). Good luck!

I was just considering a masters for now, but thats great news about the PhD. Thanks alot for responding!
