I have been a Nephrology nurse for 7 years. I teach patience to do hemodialysis at home. So I am definitely very educated on nephrology, I am just not certain of any ethical issues in that department.
Traditionally medical ethics have been based on 4 pillars - autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice.
Ethical issues arise when you are not able to respect all 4 pillars.
Can you not think of an issue where respecting a patient's autonomy would result in harm to a patient. What about when a CKD patient doesn't follow the recommended diet?
What about a conflict between beneficence and justice? Is it possible to provide dialysis to every person who needs it?
Should every patient who needs dialysis receive it? Should any consideration be given to the patient's quality of life in deciding whether to provide dialysis? Should a patient in a persistent vegetative state be given dialysis? Who should make this decision?
If you google ethics nephrology, I'm sure you will see a lot of papers on medical ethics and nephrology.
