Nurse on a Cruise

Does anybody know what is it required for a nurse to work on a cruise??

Courses, years of experience, etc.

I have a nurse friend who did a couple of gigs as a 'clinic' nurse with a major cruise line. She & her hubby are long-time cruise fanatics... went on as many as they could afford, so she thought it would be a wonderful way to combine work and fun. She discovered differently. I didn't get the deets, but she did share that it came under the "never again" jobs listing for her - like NICU is for me. They still cruise frequently, but only as paid passengers.

The usual requirements are a few years of ICU or ER nursing experience, in exchange for free room and board, meals, and pay on top of that. Length of contract varies, and cruise nurses can expect some time off during the trip where they can relax on their own. They rotate shifts with the other medical staff.

Depending on the line, two to three years of Critical Care experience, with ACLS and PALS.
