I am interested in applying to the nurse corps scholarship 2017 2018 in order to pay for my accelerated program of sixteen months. I have a bachelors in sociology. I have done quiet a few researches. The application cycle will be open this month but I don't know which exact date. I have read discussion threads of previous years and have found really helpful information. I want to create a platform where interested applicants can ask questions, share information, discuss and help each other.
What are your thoughts on which is more competitive / difficult for FNP students to get? I have an offer from NHSC but prefer to do Nurse Corps because of site placement after graduation, but of course they have arranged it so I can't at all keep my options open... the moment I say I'm still interested in NHSC, I'm dropped from Nurse Corps. Anyone else in this situation?

I think you should accept the one given, by the looks of it they are both competitive, the only difference is the Nurse Corp is only for Nurses. . You are not guaranteed the other one. If you pass it up how will you know if you'll be contacted by the other. Once you accept the other is closed so you'll never know either way. Do you have some time to wait and decide? Maybe you could search different forums to find NPs out there who've done both and compare your options.
My status changed too, but the verification forms aren't downloadable yet... for anyone who doesn't see changes in their status, I do know that they tend to do awards in waves, so there is no reason at all to think you won't be awarded
Just checked and I received an email saying that I am a finalist and requesting that verify my intent to accept the award! It doesn't look like it's a guarantee for the reward...but so hopeful that we are close to the end of this roller coaster!!
