2018 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program

Nurses New Nurse

Hi all,

I've been reading up on the Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program and looks like in past years, threads have been started for the yearly application process. I'll be applying as a Staff RN (non-faculty) working at a DSH with an HPSA Score of 16. Not sure of my DTI percentage yet. Hoping to connect with others that will be applying to the program next month and we can all share our updates here. Best of luck to everyone!

I got my notification today that I was selected.

I was notified that I was finalist 8/15/2018. My application was countersigned 9/14/18 at 10:04 am. I received my welcome packet today in the portal.

I applied before the deadline.

I'm an NP with a site score of 17. I'm not sure of my debt-to-income ratio. Not from a disadvantaged background. Good luck to everyone else who is anxiously waiting.

What is subject heading of email in case it's in my spam/junk email?

I am not 100% of the initial email subject line, something about "your HRSA applications status has been updated" or something to that effect. For the counter signature there is no notification, you have to log in and check the PDF of your signed contract. It will have your e signature on the last page and if counter signed, an additional one under it. Hope this helps

I applied for NHSC loan repayment. My site score is a 17 and my DTI was around 120%. I received a finalist emial on 8/17 and had my contract signed off today!

I know that the 50k is tax free, however do we know if it is included in your income/earnings for the year? I am thinking about my tax bracket?

Good evening, I was told by my coworker it was included as income for her.

Ya

Definitely included as income for tax purposes!

Well, rejection emails going out today. Just got mine. Better luck next year all!

Same. Got my rejection email as well. This was my first year applying so on to next year. I just really fear my consolidation will be my downfall =( ... Congratulations tho to all those who did apply and were awarded!

Same here! This was my second year applying and is VERY disappointing, but I guess I will try again next year.

Specializes in Family practice, emergency.

Today I received a denial letter, despite being approved, signing a contract, and having a date established in my contract. When I log into my participant file, it looks like I still have an award... anyone else panicking?

Denial emails went out for NCLRP or NHSC? My page still says "accepted award.." but I do not have a counter signature. I called today and was told it's not final until there is a counter signature. They said awards for NCLRP will be made until the 30th, keeping my fingers crossed. This is my fourth year applying and the furthest I have ever gotten. It's kind of cruel to get this far to only get denied again! Praying for everyone!

I JUST got a counter signature on my contract!! They are still awarding :-)
