Hi Fellow Nurses!
Is anyone else anxiously awaiting the 2017 cycle opening?
I have applied several times and praying that 2017 is my year. I'm tier 1 - not faculty and not an NP.
Is anyone else out there?
I would assume with that high of D/I you would for sure get the award. I am an RN about 170-180% maybe more, I figure I missed something on the application, but who knows i realized I had 2 credit checks, so I feel like why bother pulling my credit 2 times if I filled out my application incorrectly. It does appear that several nurses applied several years in a row and finally got it, so I figure I will just reapply again. QUOTE=AnaLong;9575230]Absolutely! We are in the same boat!!! Ya know everyone working at a qualifying place should get an award of some extent. The government spends enough money each year on stupid stuff. They could do some actual good with our tax dollars!!!!!
RN working at DSH tier 1 with D/I 259%. Received finalist email 8/30. Countersigned today 9/18. Portal has not changed yet though. Still says accepted award - under final review. Saw the signature on signed contact in portal under my electronic signature. Now the wait for the welcome packet. Hope this is helpful to others wondering how far down the list they've worked so far!
I received a signature as well today!!! I received my finalist email on Aug 30th, my status still shows as under review as others mentioned. I can't remember what my D/I was but I know it was very high so this repayment assistance will such a blessing. Good luck to everyone, don't give up hope until you are notified for certain by the 30th.
According to the "Fiscal Year 2017 Application & Program Guidance" packet:
"The NURSE Corps LRP Contract becomes effective when it is countersigned by the Secretary or designee. If your NURSE Corps LRP Contract is countersigned, you will receive a NURSE Corps LRP award notice instructing you to access the following documents in the Program Portal:
1. Award Letter
2. Welcome Packet
3. Participant Award Worksheet"
I guess it just takes a few days for that to happen.
If this is even around next year, perhaps they should structure it so private loans are not included so as to discourage irresponsible borrowing. I mean, 250% + d/i ratio. These debt amounts are absurd for a BSN...No wonder this program is getting chopped.
booo you!!!! quite salty of you. Undergrad is quite expensive these days. Post grad forgetaboutit. Easily can get to $200K+ with both. Avg debt amount for just my CRNA DNP program was well over $120K.

Well, perhaps you could read my comment again. I was referring to undergrad only and the outrageous debt people are accumulating for it. I went to a private school, I know it can be expensive. But not 250% expensive! Common sense suggests, you don't take out ungodly amounts of debt for entry level jobs that don't pay as much as those that require advanced degrees! This progam is going away! Stop borrowing beyond what you really need! And I'm not being salty. I can pay my mortgage, bills, and loans whether I get it or not. If you can't do that, then you borrowed irresponsibly and hopefully others learn from your mistake.

Do people even look at what they will earn and weigh it against what they pay for the education? $200k in student debt is for MDs and lawyers, not nurses (although CRNAs are up there, so I don't blame you at all. But you are the top of the field). I guess nursing is getting too expensive to go into any more...

So those of you that accepted awards earlier, how long was it after they signed to when they notified you of the next step?
