Hi Fellow Nurses!
Is anyone else anxiously awaiting the 2017 cycle opening?
I have applied several times and praying that 2017 is my year. I'm tier 1 - not faculty and not an NP.
Is anyone else out there?
This is my first year applying. With Trump cutting 60% of funding to this program, are you going to re-apply for this next year?
I was talking to some fellow nurses and they were saying that since it's such a gamble as it is, they are going to cut their losses and go work in a hospital (Kaiser, etc.) that pays well (compared to an FQHC) in lieu of trying to get this award. I'm just curious what others think about this?
From last years experience, a credit check was done in April and awardees were notified the end of July into August. With credit checks being later this year, you would expect award to go out in August-September. I applied last year as well with a credit check (tier 1 and >200% RN faculty) and did not receive the award. I know there are other notifications for other programs through HRSA that were sent out at the same time last year so don't be discouraged. It could be for the scholarship program or something else. Not saying the above is wrong, it's just seemed everyone received the award at the same time. Hang in there í ½í¸Š
Just downloaded an Equifax report and saw I have a Credco inquiry made on June 5th. I am an RN, tier 1, with D:I of 109%. I submitted my application 2/7/17. I'm not exactly holding my breath since I know such a small percentage gets allocated to RNs and there are people with a much higher D:I than me, but I'm hopeful! Good luck to everyone else!
I'm a little surprised that only 1 applicant on this group thread has been awarded. In previous years, once they started awarding, it was fast for others in the same Tier to hear. The more I hear about those who previously received credit checks with no award, the more nervous I become. This process is painful!!!

Yes in April, I have applied before and got a credit check and no award. I had forgot to add one of my student loans last year so I think so my D/I was lower last year than this year but the award distribution percentage changed, it used to be 50/50 split but now only 30% goes to RN's. I plan to finish my FNP Certificate if I can get into a program, but its hard to get in to online Post MSN FNP Cert programs most programs take full MSN - FNP students first, then if they have room they admit certificate only students.
Have you had a credit check this year? That's what has me hopeful.
