Nurse Corps Loan Repayment 2016 Cycle

Hello All,

I am applying for the nurse corps loan repayment program 2016 cycle, I just spoke to a representative who told me the application cycle opens up tomorrow. For those of you who have applied any tips advice etc.? I am very excited about this opportunity because I have an outrageous amount of loans.

I am just frustrated at this point. Seriously, we applied in Feb. 2016! Surely, it doesn't take this long to notify at least someone. And I am tired of talking to the reps on the phone. They keep getting NHSC and Nurse Corps confused. NHSC has started getting award notifications, but I am almost certain that Nurse Corps has not.

Nothing yet ugg i am trying not to think about it, but past years people were notified by this time it seems. I would rather be told denied then sit and wait more. I am pretty doubtful, at this point that i will be awarded, but i still have not seen anyone get the notified yet.

Still nothing yet, but if waiting is the price I have to pay to maybe get some help, I'm willing to wait (and pray lol). Good luck to all.

I heard today that I was accepted into the program for my 3rd year. Hopefully you all will start hearing soon!

That's great news! Normally it seems continuation contracts hear first so they must be starting to notify. Awesome. Thank you and congratulations!

I did not realize it was an agonizing wait for the 3rd year? i guess i just figured if your job did not change its pretty much a guarantee, i have never seen anyone post about this, but good to know about the 3rd year. thanks

Just in preparation for not receiving the award, so my site obviously meets for this program, I have my MSN, but I am thinking about getting my NP Cert, Not sure if i would switch jobs and actually use my NP, i know that sounds crazy, but for the moment i have a great flexible job with telework, but its boring, but eventually once my 4 year old gets older i would like to make a difference and be an NP. Maybe open my own clinic, but I was wondering if anyone knows if I do get my NP Cert, are there other programs that NP's can get for Loan Forgiveness. I saw the other one that is like 50K, but I my site does not show up as eligible. Its a little confusing.
