Nurse Corp Loan Repayment 2015

Published

Hi

I am looking into applying for the nurse corp loan repayment this coming year...any tips/advice/suggestions on the application process??? I am a newer Family Nurse Practitioner in Ga. Our score is only 13 this year and my debt to income ratio is 186%, placing me in tier 2. I see most of the awards went to the tier 1 applicants due to the funds. I just saw the webinar and noticed that 91% went to tier 1 last year and 2013 83% went to tier 1. My hopes are not that high....but I thought I would apply and wish for the best. I could use the additional funds for my student loans.

Tips will be greatly appreciated from my fellow nurses ;)

Thanks

Thanks for letting us know! So nervous!!!

By the looks of previous posts, most people were notified on July 31 last year. Hoping that is the case again this year!

Well, the people receiving replies (in the other thread) applied to a different program. Applicants to the Nurse Corps Scholarship Program and the Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program are reviewed separately.

Although applicants to the 2014 Nurse Corps Scholarship Program were receiving replies this time last year, the notification date for scholarship recipients was scheduled one month earlier, on August 31, 2014.

This year, the latest notification date for both recipients and non-recipients is September 30, 2015, and the Program Guide states that they will start notifying people in late August.

I think that they moved the date because many recipients did not receive notification until September (based on posts dated during the previous application cycle).

It might still be too early for the notifications to be sent this year. All that we can do right now is pray and hope for the best!

This is my 3rd year applying for the loan forgiveness. It seems this year has had the LONGEST wait times. I haven't heard of hardly anyone receiving awards yet. When I called about 2 weeks ago, they confirmed that no awards had been given yet. Each time you call the help line for HRSA, you get different answers, which is definitely annoying for those who are trying to wait patiently. Good luck to everyone! Here's hoping!!!

D/I Ratio 120% HPSA Score 16

I am still waiting too :( has anyone in this thread heard or receive the award email?

Do you apply to the loan repayment program first, and then find a job in a critical shortage facility? Or do you get a position with a critical shortage facility, and then apply to the loan repayment program? I am asking this because someone on the facebook site for the Nurse Corps said that she recommends we apply while still in school???
