Hi
I am looking into applying for the nurse corp loan repayment this coming year...any tips/advice/suggestions on the application process??? I am a newer Family Nurse Practitioner in Ga. Our score is only 13 this year and my debt to income ratio is 186%, placing me in tier 2. I see most of the awards went to the tier 1 applicants due to the funds. I just saw the webinar and noticed that 91% went to tier 1 last year and 2013 83% went to tier 1. My hopes are not that high....but I thought I would apply and wish for the best. I could use the additional funds for my student loans.
Tips will be greatly appreciated from my fellow nurses
Thanks

Make sure to read the application packet thoroughly and double check your application for errors.
Good luck! I applied last year with a ratio > 200% in Tier 1 and wasn't funded. However, I think I read somewhere that NP's are considered before RN's, so that may help you.
Thanks for the input. I have read the previous blogs and most of the post mentioned to double check the application before submitting. Good luck to you! Hope you receive an award this year!

I called and spoke with a rep today. 50% of funds are given to NPs so that's encouraging. Im applying for the first time this yr also. Good luck!!
That's exciting. Good luck with your application process. I submitted mine over the weekend. I had already reviewed the 2014 requirements and documents...so it was just a matter of gathering and uploading the documents. I pray I did it correctly. It was also a relief that the federal loans were easily imported. Which state are you in??? Does anyone know if the funding is per state...or overall??? I am in Georgia.
Officially under review! Anyone else applying this year???

Hey everyone! This is my 3rd year applying for the loan forgiveness. I have made it up until the very end over the last 2 years. I am praying this will be the year for me!
I was so very thankful for the change in the way our student loans could be electronically uploaded to our application. The last 2 years of uploading every single piece of loan documentation was the worst and longest part of the whole application process. This year, the application was a breeze!
Last year, I noticed that a lot of NP's got their awards first, but ironically, some RN's with a lower D/I ratio than myself and other applicants were given awards. Not exactly sure what that is all about, but I guess the "powers that be" see a much larger picture than what we see. I have a D/I ratio of 119% and a HPSA of 16. The waiting process is HORRIBLE! Especially when some start getting awards in June or July...and you have to wait until the end of October to find out that funds have run out. However, I wish everyone the very very best of luck!!! :)
Good luck to you!!! I plan to reapply if I do not receive anything this year. I am not exactly sure how the awards are made. I saw somewhere that someone was awarded with a hpsa of 11 who was a NP. So I am feeling a little hopeful. My plans are to transfer to another facility if I receive the award. I hope that process isn't difficult. I am currently in Ga and will be moving to Florida next year. Just taking things a day at a time. Good luck to everyone who has applied for this year!!!

This is my first year applying. I'm a nurse educator at a community college. My debt to income ratio is > 100 so I'm hopeful. I took a pay cut to switch from being a floor RN to a full time faculty. This repayment program would make it so much easier to do what I love while still being able to support my family and not paying loans for the rest of my life. Unfortunately for colleges our rating system for tiers is not posted online (each college determines the disadvantaged student population differently). I could ask the HR representative who sent in my employer information, but she was frustrated with the process in the first place. I teach in a small town community college so I'm really hoping we are a high needs school. Best of luck to all of you!
Good luck! I wish the waiting process wasn't for most of the year. I haven't seen many old post from a faculty standpoint. I would think it would be a little easier, but you never know. Good luck.

Does anyone happen to know the email address they use to communicate with applicants? I'm waiting to hear back about my application and am worried I'll miss an email. Seems strange that they wouldn't give us an email address to add to our contacts list in order to avoid this problem.
Did you find out any information about an email. My application still says under review. Getting nervous...being that the applicants from last year starting hearing back early May. Has anyone heard anything recently?
