NU SD Cohort 41

Published

I have searched for a thread about NU SD's cohort 41 that is supposed to be starting January 2015. I am going to be applying next week after I attend the pre-nursing forum on Tuesday, the 15th. My goal is to get into the ABSN program as I already have a bachelors degree. I understand thought that the number of spots in the cohort is for both the general BSN and the ABSN groups. I am curious to see what other peoples stats are that are going to be, or already have applied for this cohort. I am so nervous because I knpow a lot of people apply and there are only about 50 spots available. I havn't taken the TEAS yet or the essay exam part. I have a 3.5 GPA, so I'm hoping I can kick butt on the TEAS and essay!

Hopefully the maintenance they're doing to the SOAR portal this weekend includes updating the nursing application.

I just looked up last years January cohort, they found out October 21!! So frustrated right now!!

Does anyone know someone that's gone through NU's program? Hopefully this isn't an indication of what our experience will be like..

I just talked to my advisor and she said the BRN took a visit at the school and they are done. She said that most likely we are going to be notified soon. I mean I told her like before Thanksgiving. I told her that we are all frustrated. Anyone have talked to anyone different from my info?

Hi guys,

So, I just got off the phone with the admissions department.Basically they told me that they have been busy getting re-accredited and that it postponed a lot of the process for us applicants. He said that this amount of wait time is very unusual for them and he appologized for it. I definitely gave him an earful from all of us. I told him that it was great to know that there is a reason and it sounds like a legitimate reason, but it would have been nice to received an email or some sort of contact from them letting us know about the hold up. I felt very out of the loop and pretty much forgotten and having some insight might have saved me a lot of stress and frustration. He said that in retrospect they could have handled it differently.

He told me that we should hear by the end of this week or next week...still a vague time line.

Yah, it would have been better if they could just email that they are going thru some process and say they are trying their best for nursing applicants. It's not like we are incapable of understanding. Geeeezzz Luis!

Did they say that they were re-accredited and passed all of the BRN's requirements?

My advisor did not give me that info. All she's telling me is that the BRN was done visiting them. So I assume the NU is nsync with BRN's requirements. Have you talked to your advisor?

My advisor is really nice but is like a broken record.. "For that I will have to refer you to call the nursing department." so I haven't been able to get many answers. I was a little worried about that tho, if we're paying this much they NEED to be accredited. I'm not trying to go to a vocational school...

@Ashley: same words from my advisor before. Seems like they don't communicate well and not completely informed. When I asked her before, she said talk to the nursing department.

Wow, I cannot believe we still do not have an answer. If we don't have it by his week, I doubt it will be next week seeing as it is thanksgiving. Words cannot express my frustration. Unbelievable.

Ugh this wait is driving me crazy I really hope they don't decide to wait til after turkey day I don't want to be stuffed and anxious omg I wish they would just say OK since we made them wait with no notices let's let everyone in that d be grrrrreat
