NU or NJ license?

U.S.A. New Jersey

Should I get a NJ or NY license? I am seeing more nursing opportunities in NY, while cost of living is lower in NJ.

If I get a NY license and then find a job in NJ, will I have to obtain a NJ license too?

Search for a job in an area that has the most openings with LEAST amont of nursing programs. NY city market is saturated, difficult to obtain initial RN position; most are BSN desired positions.

Neither NY or NJ part of compact, so if you get NY license and obtain NJ job, will need to obtain NJ license--which is taking 2-3 months to obtain. You can have multiple state nursing license as long as you meet each state requirements.

I live in SE corner of PA/NJ/DE and held licenses in all three states when I was doing home infusion as my company had patients in all those areas. Today, I maintain just PA and NJ license as only deal with patients/doctors in these states now.
