Any NSU Shreveport students here? Can you tell me about the application process for clinicals, competitiveness, and space available? Is there a wait to start after applying? I'm not ready yet, but would just like to have an idea of the current situation. Thanks!:)

Thank you for your information citigyrl :D

Citigyrl,

I applied for clinicals this summer and have completed all my security check paperwork. I submitted the information via certified mail over a month ago. When do you think I will receive confirmation that I have been accepted into the program? Did you receive your acceptance by August?

Thanks!

To be honest, I can't remember exactly but I do know it was close to time for school to start. Usually you can call the school and ask them the status of your application. Their main # is 318-677-3100.The big thing to getting in is scoring high on the TEAS, having a good GPA (the higher the better), and having strong math and science grades. They say its a lottery and all the scores are plugged in to the computer- the computer ranks them and that's who is chosen. I don't know but that's what I was told in school. I did LPN transition so there was no competition. All we neeed was the GPA & 1yr's experience. Hope u get in-it's worth it!

Hi, I just receieved my letter today and unfortunately I didn't get in. Check your mail today.

i just check the mail, I got in... my hands still shaking hopw everybody get in too ok?

I don't understand why I didn't get in. My friend and I both had really good cumulative GPA's. My advisor told me that it is possible for people to drop out so just bc we received a rejection letter doesn't mean that we won't be able to get in. My friend had a cumulative of a 3.5 and mine was a 3.4. I passed all my courses the first time around as well. So i don't know what the deal was. Then again I applied for the ASN program and not the BSN. I've heard here that people who already have an LPN license automatically get into clinical for the ASN program, so I am assuming that space played a role in that. But congrats to everyone who suceeded in getting accepted into the nursing program!:D

pla 84,

I got my letter yesterday too...so I guess we will see each other in classes :) Good luck to everyone who did not get in this time around. Don't worry yourselves too much, everything happens for a reason! From what I hear, it is even harder to get into clinicals in the fall because of the limited space. So try in the spring and I am sure you will get in, especially with your high GPAs!

Awesome! Gongratulations Klorificen13

Congrats to those of you that got in. It is well worth it. As for the ASN program, you are correct. Most LPN's apply to this program because it is a bridge program. I encourage you to try again in the Spring. Not as many people apply in the spring because there are no summer classes offered (unless you are with Willis Knighton program). I encourage you, don't let the easy start fool you. Treat every test like its your last. Focus and manage your time. Don't wait till the last minute to look over your things-do it daily! Good luck to all!

I am in also...I am in the 2 yr program!

I am not real sure what to expect! Guess I will find out Tuesday!

Good Luck! stay focused..don't take any test for granted...make the most of study time...use good time management skills. You will do great.
