Hi everyone! I'm a long time reader, and brand new member! I couldn't find a forum on here for the Nova Entry-Level Nursing Winter 2019 semester so I thought I would just create one.
I was actually planning to start in Fall 2018 but I saw on a recent post that both the Miami and main Davie campus programs are full for Fall 2018 which is a huge bummer.
Has anyone interviewed yet for 2019? How did it go? How did you dress? Any tips? Thanks! :)
My bad! I've been commenting everywhere. I'll stick to this one.
I'm in the same boat. I would prefer to be accepted into an ABSN for sure. I can't imagine another 27 months until FINALLY completing my BSN. Especially considering that I want to go for my masters and DNP. But if Nova is the only one that accepts me then thats where I'll go!
I'm torn between UM and FIU though, if I were to somehow get accepted into both. I have a BA from FIU, and live a block away from it, but have always heard such great things about UM and they have a partnership with Miami Transplant Institute, which is what I want to specialize in.
FIU would be incredibly convenient and familiar, but I feel that my career would have greater opportunity at UM. No matter who accepts me, I will need to apply for a loan and I never have, so I don't foresee any issues with that! I luckily got through FIU with a scholarship the first time around.
Hi all,
I'm a little nervous about my chances of getting into Nova winter 2019. So far I have two pre reqs left AP2 and nutrition. my GPA is around a 3.42 right now and I'Ve gotten a B in almost all my science lectures. I really do want to get in nova, im planning on sending my transcript out next week after i sign up for my remaining classes. I just finished highscool this summer and don't know about what my next step should be. Any advice would be greatly appriciated.
thank you
@babuh Since you just finished High School I highly recommend, if you haven't already done so, start volunteering! Preferably at a hospital or clinic and try to get into a position where you get significant hands on experience. Also, focus on shooting for A's in your remaining pre-requisites to bump up your GPA, which is obviously a given!
Try to apply to more than one school if you can.
Nova's minimum science pre req is 2.75 so you are well above that. Most people with GPA's above 3.0 get picked for an interview, so I suggest working on interview skills, looking at past forum interview questions and make sure you can comfortably communicate your personal goals.
Hope this helps at all.
good luck!
Hello!
I just applied at the Miami campus for spring 2019 semester a few weeks back. I haven't gotten an interview date yet, i have a 3.87 GPA and a 3.80 Science GPA. For those of you who have gotten in how long did it take you to get an interview/ exam date and did they notify you via email or phone? Thanks!
hey there!
when I applied I would call Kate Barfield just to make sure that everything I submitted was okay and once she gave me the green light she sent me an email to pick out my interview date. It was an awesome feeling. I already got accepted into the program but, all the forms that you need to fill out are annoyingggg.

It looks like I'm commenting on your posts on multiple boards ;p
UM would definitely be my first choice followed by UWF, and NSU. Simply because of the amount of time required to complete the programs. UM in 12 months, UWF in 16 and NSU in 27. I'm not too concerned with the costs of each respective program since I have my GI bill but I would take whatever program accepts me.
