Hello everyone!

I am creating this for anyone who has been accepted to Nova's ABSN Winter program. I was accepted and I'm excited to meet/help anyone applying to the program as well.

I have my interview next week!! I’m so nervous. What kind of things did they ask??

Nothing difficult, just the double jeopardy round of Anatomy and Physiology. Kidding, just talking about you and your reasons for wanting to become a nurse, what you think nursing is all about. Don’t sweat it. Just dress and speak professionally and you’ll be fine. You should be fine if you’ve been selected to interview. Don’t stress.

Haha good thing I’ve been practicing my flash cards! Thanks guys ?

Hey everyone, I am interested in applying to nova’s ABSN! Does anyone know the cost of the program? I saw online it says entire program tuition 24,000$ but I wasn’t sure if that was per semester or for the entire program

On this link, if you go to Tuition and Fees near the bottom right of the page, you'll see the breakdown of tuition (for the whole program) and other fees which are recurrent or one-time fees.

I personally have already received several grants that will amount to almost half of the tuition cost. But there's also uniforms ($150-$400), needed equipment ($125-$250), immunization costs (can be expensive depending on what you need done or re-done), health insurance ($1250 every 7 full months if you're not already insured), books ($800-$1200 per semester), and then your other living costs. Tuition could be just half of the overall cost if you're renting an apartment and such.

Oh wow, I didn’t know they offered scholarships/grants for accelerated programs! That’s amazing

My opinion is that the cost of attending should not really be one of the top concerns (unless we're talking $45,000 or more for the entire tuition). I picked a school based on who I felt would be best in the area that was most convenient for me. If I was younger, say, early to mid 20's, I would consider the traditional program so I could work while attending and not have everything so condensed. The Accelerated program really is very intense, and if my personal situation didn't make the accelerated a must, I would go traditional. Your situation may not require you to go Accelerated. Look at that as well.

Hey! For the Kaplan, does anyone know what is considered a good score? I got in the high 80's and wanted to know if that is considered well for their program

That’s a very respectable score and I know plenty in the program who scored around there. Just know that for Fall term you face stiffer competition, and they’re going to look at more than just that score (GPA, prior experiences, science courses and grades, character, etc.). Stay positive. All the best from a current ABSN student.

Thank you so much! I did very well in all sections, but worst in writing. Also, I have a strong GPA and extracurriculars so I hope that holds a lot of weight. Do you have any tips for the interview? Also how long do people typically wait to hear a result after interview

Sounds like you're a good candidate. Just be you. There's no right person or wrong person for nursing. We have all kinds in the program and that's a good thing. There's nothing I can prep you for besides have good self-awareness of what your motivations are and be honest. The program has to be a good fit for you also so don't be afraid to have some questions ready to ask the interviewer. As for when people are notified, some are notified immediately after the interview and others wait a week or two. There's no "it's always like this". It varies.

Thank you so much for your response and feedback. Does anyone know like the average GPA overall for people and where people seem to be around for that.

Hey Guys! I’m planning on applying to NOVA ABSN for fall 2021? I’m a little nervous because I can’t find much information about the requirements on their website. It only says Nutrition, DEP2004, and the Anatomy sequence. Does anybody know if they accept retakes and what minimum score you need on Kaplan? Also how are you guys liking the program? Do any of you guys know if the interview will be online?
