Has anyone been to the NSNA annual broo ha ha? This year it is in Salt Lake City, Utah... A professor want me to go (starting a chapter at our school) and I'm wondering if anyone who's gone has advice on how to get the most out of it. Thanks!!

DON"T MISS THIS EVENT!!!!!

I was active in my college student association. Dept chair had college help fund my trip to NSNA in 1982 (held in Minneapolis0. Opened my eyes to the world of nursing. Still remember the thrill of dinner converstaion with the editor of AJN. Helped fuel my activism roots.

Last attended NSNA in 2002 (held in Philadelphia) promoting PA State Nurses Assoc.(PSNA). They students were so pleased to be able to meet recruiters, hear career counseling, first job tipsm interesteing speakers and network with other students.

If you go, make up computerized labels with name, address and contact info so you can just place labels on presenters mailing lists rather that having writers cramps and quickly move onto the next booth/exhibit.

Specializes in critical care; community health; psych.

I will be there. It's totally paid for by our NSA funds. It will be my first convention. I'm really looking forward to it. Don't really know what to expect till I get there. Anyone else going?

I guess I'll be going if I can get the money-

We are trying to get it from SGA... but it's a little late to be starting!

I lived in Salt Lake for years, so I'm thinking of trying to sublet for the week. The bus system isn't great but there are some cool areas not far from the convention center. If you haven't been ther you should check out the Mormon Temple - it's amazing looking. If you want to know about good food and such while you're there - lemme know.

If I don't get there - have a great time!

Specializes in Peds ER.

I went last year to convention in Nashville and will go this year to SLC. It is definitely worth your while to go if you can. Lots of seminars on topics ranging from Advanced Practice Nursing, CRNA's, critical care nursing, ED nursing, nephrology nursing, too many to list but something for everyone. There is also an NCLEX mini-review for around $20. We participated in a research study about nursing students as well. The Exhibit Hall is a great place to network and get more free stuff than your arms can carry. There's an opening night ceremony, and the hotel was gorgeous. If they are willing to pay, take that free trip and run with it!

I am going for the first time, as long as there is enough money in my piggy bank
