You guys have to help me! You're the experts!

OMG! Such a dilemma! My friends are jumping into intervention already, they didn't even assess!!! So many of my batchmates are going to our nursing school in the Philippines to inquire about taking the NCLEX and I think the school isn't explaining the whole DEAL very well...'cuz they're already getting transcripts and filling out forms to register with PEarson VUE (some were online I think, but I'm not sure)!!!! I don't think they are even aware of the 'retrogression' thing!!!!! You guys gotta help me on how i should explain it to them 'cuz I don't wanna see my friends rushing about towards wasting time and money. Especially on the retrogressing thing, I don't know much about that 'cuz that didn't apply to me. Don't leave anything out pls! Thanks you guys...

It needs to be explained that they are not applying for NCLEX but licensure as a RN in the US and even taking and passing the exam does not give right to work in the US and with the amount of people waiting in front of them they are looking at several years due to no visas being available for them to work in the US. Also point them to this site and tell them to read the International forum and that they must take some responsibility themselves to check out what is happening regarding visas for the US.

Hope this helps

So, that means the people who have applied for a working visa some years ago are still waiting? that's sad... I didn't wanna be the party pooper, 'cuz they're (my friends) all excited to tell me they're planning to take the nclex in Manila, but I have to say something. I will definitely be referring them to these boards...

...and you're right, they should have the initiative to know what they're trying to get into...

Do they already have eligibility from the State before they registered to Pearson Vue?

Unfortunately we are seeing it more and more on here where people are registering with pearsonvue first and then realize that they need to go through a state BON before they will be able to sit the exam. Also a lot think that is all they are doing and not realize that they are actually applying to be a US RN and that NCLEX is just part of the process.

Yes, we have members on here with a PD of late 2005 but mainly 2006 and I am one of them

This is scary. I think we really need to educate them. It will cost them a lot of money for nothing.

Usually we don't find them until after they have registered with pearsonvue and they then realise they need BON process and then start posting because they find us when searching the web. The thing is the file with pearsonvue is valid for 12 months but can take several months with BON or CGFNS or both if they have to get CES done before BON will accept their application and any delays will have impact on application. Sad how a lot jump in with both eyes closed and then realise what a financial mistake they have made. Even seen some recently apply for VSC by mistake when they haven't even started RN process with BON

There is already much here about the retrogression. And the biggest issue that many are not aware of is that they cannot apply for the NCLEX exam directly, they must apply for licensure as an RN to a Board of Nursing in the US.

And the bigger issue is that passing of the NCLEX exam no longer guarantees that they will automatically be able to work in the US ever.

The US does not issue more than 10,000 visas for employer-driven green cards from your country per year, and there are well over exponential numbers already waiting in the pipe-line, and some for several years already.

Currently the PD date is before 2002. They need to do some reading and research before they sign on the dotted line for anything. It is their responsibility to take care of things and understand what is going on, it is not your responsibility to spoon feed them, or what are they going to do when they leave Manila and are on their own?
