whats your take on this? I was reading the student manual for my NS and I got to the uniform part . Im reading what they are expecting up to wear and it says white pants/ skirts. No scrubs aloud. No clogs aloud. I thought you were supposed to wear scrubs in hospitals?!

Scrubs are not necessarily worn by all. They originally were for staff in the ORs, etc. Now many units use them, or scrub style.
As a student, you need to follow the dress code that your school states. In your case, that means white uniforms, you can find them at any uniform store. And no clogs, which means closed back shoes. A school can dictate whatever it wants for uniform.

We have specific uniforms that we need to wear on our clinicals. Helps to differentiate the students. We're not allowed clogs either--no open backed shoes.

We had to wear white...scrub top, pants/skirt, socks, shoes, underwear...I looked like the Michilin man. I'll never forget my first day of clinicals, all of us students in these glowing white uniforms looking like beacons. We were in a LTC facility for the first 2 quarters. On the way out I stopped to use the little boys room, when I cam out everyone had already left. I wansn't familiar with the facility, so I stood there looking around and this little man in a wheelchair looks at me and says, "All the ones in white went that way." and pointed down the hall. I guess we all stood out.

Our uniform is white, it is a scrub top with 4 pockets and white tapered leg pants with an annoying seam down the front, lol. The class that is starting this fall has the same top (only in blue) and they have straight leg scrub bottoms (with no annoying seam down the front and they are blue). I am so jealous. Our class is actually petitioning to allow us to go with the new uniform, but I don't think that we are going to be successful . Oh well such is life. I guess we will be white "beacons" until we graduate in March of '07!

I guess we are some of the lucky! We wear navy blue scrub pants and white polo tops with our school name and program ebroidered on them. We have to wear white shoes but they have to have backs. We are allowed to wear tennis shoes:)
The day before clincials we are expected to go and pick up our assignment at the hospital and research everything the night before...then we have to wear dress clothes with a white lab coat that has our school patch sewn on the pocket:)

Sounds a lot like mine! Our uniform is light blue & white pinstripe--tunic top (ugh) and the school patch on the left arm. We can wear sneakers as well. Oh yes, and going to pick up assignment w/lab coat as well. Then research your assigned patient, drugs, procedures, etc. etc. and know all of this by clinical the next day.
