NP relocation bonus/stipend

Published

Hi all,

Has anyone received a relocation bonus or stipend for moving expenses or the like? If so, how much?

If so, did you negotiate that into your contract? Are you in an office/clinic setting vs a medical center/hospital setting?

Thanks!

I moved from GA to PA for my APN job. The hospital I work with had a $4,000 relocation assist for employees. Granted this was 6 years ago so I do not know if they still have it with this economy. I did not have to negotiate for it. I think it is reasonable to ask and try to negotiate for it....especially if you are moving far. If covered my movers which was very helpful. It would have been very tight for me to pay to move without having a job (I had just graduated).

I didn't need to relocate, but the relocation expense option was available. It was $5K upfront relocation assistance (with 2 yr commitment) or you could get a $20K interest free loan to be paid back via payroll deduction over 5 yrs.

Thanks for the replies... It's good to know that it is a reasonable request to make.

If you dont' mind me asking, what type of practice do you work in?

I'm in a small rural family practice that is part of a larger group of practices in Ohio.

WCH as in Greater Cincy area? I am about to graduate/take boards and am looking into options....

Yes, between Cinci and Columbus and options are always good. Check into Healthsource, they are pretty much based out of the Cinci area. If you live/go to school out there I'm sure you've run into them...
