I'm not sure if a forum has already been started for applicants for the September 2021 intake but I'm here to kick it off. Is anyone else biting their nails hoping for an interview with UBC or UVIC?
Oops- sorry for some grammar errors/spelling errors on my previous comment. I tried to type too fast before my break ends! Can’t seem to edit it again.
by the way, thanks @raymondjay06 for the update on what “recommended by department” means ?
@light1027 thank you for your breakdown for both schools. I may be prematurely assuming the reason for the status change so take that with a grain of salt ?.
I’d email UVIC; especially if you’ve noticed your status has changed on your UVIC application.

thanks @raymondjay06 for starting this forum and to everyone who has contributed. It's been so nice to know where others are in the application process. I applied to UVic and have not heard anything yet.
Good luck everyone!

Yes! My sentiments, exactly. So glad I found this forum. Thank you kindly, everyone. Best of luck to all! Regardless of what happens, “try, try again”! ? ?
Hi UVic Team! My status just changed to "Provisionally admitted" today but I still have not received a formal acceptance email from UVic. Not too sure what the "provisional" refers to (maybe it's because I haven't completed the statistics requirement? maybe it means I'm on the waitlist?). Just wanted to post and see if anyone had a status change today as well!

@Annbroad I heard really good things about both UBC and UVIC NP programs. I think it really comes down which learning style works best for you- some learn better in in-class environment vs some learn better with flexibility of online learning environment. In terms of studyload and intensity, both schools are intense but those who have gone to UVIC seemed to have little bit more time on their hand to pick up extra shifts or work part-time because the many classes were asynchronous. So few of my colleagues to whom finance was a key factor in their decision chose UVIC over UBC. I also heard UBC tends to put people into clinical placements within Greater Vancouver, so some chose UBC over this reason. But my colleagues said there are benefits to being placed in rural/remote where they learned more skills and consolidate their practice due to lack of resources. I also heard UBC tends to focus more on research/academia so if for those who wish to pursue PhD seemed to choose UBC.
Again, these are few things I've heard when I asked around about NP Programs. Having worked with NPs who completed from both schools, I think they are both good.
I have a friend who is doing UNBC and she chose UNBC NP because it let her complete the program part-time basis over longer period. And she is liking the program!
