I'm not sure if a forum has already been started for applicants for the September 2021 intake but I'm here to kick it off. Is anyone else biting their nails hoping for an interview with UBC or UVIC?
@NayjI took the advantage of all 30 weeks because I didn't really do anything for the first 6 weeks. There is a total of 6 assignments - I pretty much did one assignment/month. It took me one day to get through one chapter and complete an assignment. Assignments #4-6 are more challenging in terms of their contents and because you need to complete 2-3 chapters before completing each assignment. I would say, if you are diligent and got time, you can even complete the course in 2 months! But, if you are working full-time and want to balance life, then 3-4months is reasonable.
Hey guys, congrats to everyone that got accepted to UVic or UBC! For those that got accepted to UVic, what was your GPA? If you have a specialty certificate, did UVic look at those grades too? How many years of work experience did you have before applying?
Im currently just finishing second year of my BSN so I have a loooong way to go before I can apply, but doesn't hurt to start preparing now!
@light1027 ya I did attention Russell Hawkins university of Victoria basically exactly what it said to mail to.
Hi all! I am just reading this forum as I am hoping to apply to UVIC's NP Program, for 2022 start! Congratulations to all that are accepted! I was about to sign up for the TRU stats course, however it appears a lot of you were accepted without taking it, and are taking it after the fact, is that correct? If any of you have any application tips I would greatly appreciate them. Thank you :)
FYI
UVIC admissions reported that this year they had about 155 applications to the NP Program and will be accepting 30 seats.
@nicunurseKT
From what I understand, only one or two of us that were conditionally accepted into 2021's Cohort had completed the course prior. Many of us are in it now. It's hot garbage and I don't wish it on my worst enemy, but it is extremely applicable, so....#conflicted.
In addition to the noted academic requirements for UVIC and what they have touched upon on the website, ensure you have references that will rate you quite strong, so have that conversation with them first before asking them - this should ensure that you're all on the same page. Also, make sure your statement letter is strong; unique to your own experiences, and highlights what makes you standout, and really sell yourself to why would be a good nurse practitioner, what you've done to prepare you for school, and how your own values and experiences will you make you successful in the program. A well-rounded CV wouldn't hurt either.
Personally, I sat down with some NP's for about an hour to discuss the role and challenges, so come my interview time, I had already figured out parts of the job I would enjoy, how my previous experiences would align with the NP role, and what I would expect to find as challenging.
Feel free to reach out to my directly for any other questions. You have about 6-7 months to prepare and you have a good head start. Cheers!
Hi guys,
I’m pretty sure I didn’t get in to UVic but I haven’t received a rejection either. It still says under review.
I have contacted them (Paul Meier) several times over the past 6 weeks and they keep giving me the same response “you will be notified shortly”.
Is anyone else in this position?
Thanks in advance!

@light1027 Amazing. Good luck!
To everyone in UVIC, I made a facebook group called UVIC NP Cohort 2021. Should be easy to find ?
