NP Locum/travel pay

Hey Everyone, new member here with a quick question. Anyone out there doing travel assignments? I am curious to see what your hourly pay is. I have been travelling now for about seven months and honestly feel that my hourly rate is on the low side. I am currently at a Government facility and I am at $55 per HR with all travel expenses paid. I am just wondering what other travelers are actually being paid. I was a pretty new grad when I first started, but now with a year experience I am thinking it is time for a higher wage. Also if you have any recommendations on travel companies or recruiters let me know. Thanks in advance for the replies

I'm going to say this with a caveat. I have never taken a locum tenens job. That being said, I get calls about them all the time as I'm signed up with Barton and Associates, LocumTenensdotcom, and one or two others. Although I've had one guy with B&A able to negotiate a $100/hr rate for me none of the positions offer what I had in mind when I signed up with their services, and that's largely the reason I've yet to take a locum job. I suppose I was being unrealistic, but I know of physicians making 200+/hr so I had something closer to that in mind. I already make close to 200k so anything under $150/hr as a 1099 isn't worth my time...which makes me sound arrogant. I don't care.

You know thats where I am also and frankly I could give a hoot if it sounds arrogant this is the equivalent of our benefitted W2 position with a little bump for the inconvenience. Personally I think those who work for such crappy rates end up looking like suckers and I'd rather chance appearing arrogant than like a sucker.

I don't know why the expenses thing is even a consideration because you wouldn't be in BFE if the job hadn't taken you there and would still have your home living expenses so they don't get any credit for putting you up in a hotel etc. just my opinion. OP I'm not sure of your specialty but I can't imagine you can't get significantly more. Good luck!

Thank you for the comment, I am a FNP with experience in urgent care settings, rural health, and hospital OPC's. Honestly you just put to words what I was already thinking. When I took this last assignment I just wanted to get past the one year mark for experience and now that I am at that point I am thinking it is time to start looking for other prospects.

As a locums FNP the most they pay hourly is typically $75/h for non-specialty, depending on experience. Government locums pay less though.

Holy Hannah barberra! I'm getting hosed. I've worked for B&A and never made $150/hr as a 1099. I guess you are a trump level negotiator.
