NP dual curriculum

Does anyone have any information on schools or person who has completed a FNP/adult primary care & Psych NP at the same time? I'm just wondering if there are schools that are flexible with the curriculum and specializing in particular areas while obtaining a fnp. The most common programs I find are FNP/WHNP, Adult/Geritatrics, Adult/WHNP, but no dual primary with psych...

I had searched high and far for an FNP/Psych dual program with no success. The only way to do it from those I had spoke with, was to make a custom degree program with the graduate nursing dean. Perhaps others have more extensive information.

I am currently attending University of Michigan - Flint for BSN completion. I have looked into continuing on with the school for APN training. They just recently started a DNP program and phased out the MSN. I believe all of their specialties are online/distance learning. Unless something has changed, I am pretty sure that they only offer the adult PMHNP along with ANP. I believe it is a 4 year, 81 credit DNP. Once finished with the degree you are eligible to sit for both boards.

We used to offer a combined FNP/Psych CNS at the University of Virginia but closed it several years ago. Practica hours for the two certifications had to be distinct, so this meant over 1000 clinical hours (and a 72 credit MSN!). You could not sit for certification in either specialty area until the degree was conferred.

Now we encourage people to pursue one specialty as a MSN (and get certified), and then to pursue the other as a post-masters.

The post-MSN certificate is the way to go IMHO also.

I did an MSN in management and leadership (non-clinical degree).

Then, did an adult health CNS

Now, I'm completing (in four more weeks - yeah me) another post-MSN certificate as a peds CNS.

And yes, the clinical hours are 1200 all together. I did a 36 hour MSN, another 15 hours for the adult health CNS, and another 15 hours for the peds CNS.

Mine? I'm still a year away from completing my first. I was lamenting I did not pursue my advanced degree sooner.(When the effort would have been completed in less time). I became complacent with the money. It took a bad experience to convince me to do so. Where are you completing your second certificate? It is 15 hours?

I'm doing both thru the local hospital-affiliated college of nursing. Yes, both were 15 credit hours. The first one (adult health CNS) was 585 clinical hours and the second one (peds CNS) is 505 clinical hours.
